The NS (Name Server) records of a domain show which DNS servers are authoritative for its zone. In simple terms, the zone is the group of all records for the domain name, so when you open a URL inside an Internet browser, your PC asks the DNS servers worldwide where the domain is hosted and from which servers the DNS records for the domain address must be retrieved. That way a web browser finds out what the A or AAAA record of the domain address is so that the latter is mapped to an IP and the website content is requested from the right location, a mail relay server detects which server takes care of the e-mails for the domain name (MX record) so a message can be sent to the correct mailbox, etc. Any modification of these sub-records is conducted using the company whose name servers are used, permitting you to keep the website hosting and switch only your email provider for instance. Every domain name has at least two NS records - primary and secondary, which start with a prefix such as NS or DNS.

NS Records in Web Hosting

When you use a web hosting from our us and you add a new domain address inside the account or transfer an existing one from another provider, you will be able to manage its NS records easily via the Hepsia website hosting CP, which comes with all shared accounts. You'll be able to change the current name servers or enter additional ones for a single domain or even for several domain names simultaneously with several clicks. This is done through the feature-rich Domain Manager tool that's a part of Hepsia and the user-friendly interface is going to make it easy to control your domain even if it's the first one you've ever registered. It takes simply a mouse click to see what name servers a domain name uses at the moment or if they're the correct ones to point a domain address to the hosting space on our end and with a few clicks more you'll even be able to register private name servers for any one of the domain names that you own. For the latter option you can use the IPs of every company that you would like the new NS records to direct to.

NS Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

When you register a new domain name inside a semi-dedicated server account or transfer an existing one from another registrar company, you will be able to update its NS records as needed without any troubles even if you haven't had a domain name of your own before. The process takes several clicks in Hepsia - the user-friendly administration tool, which comes with our semi-dedicated plans. If you have many different domain addresses within the account, you will be able to update all of them at the same time, which can save you lots of time and mouse clicks. You can also see with ease the name servers that a domain name uses and if they're the proper ones or not for the domain address to be directed to the account that you've got on our sophisticated cloud hosting platform. Hepsia will also allow you to set up private name servers under any domain registered within the account and use them not only for that domain address, but also for any other one that you wish to direct to our cloud platform.
